This blog post contrasts what the author considers as Lance Armstrong's "winning at all costs" mindset with The Soderquist Center's "do the right thing" and "values matter". While many of us have a sense of what "healthy values" might mean when it comes to cheating or lying, it's not clear to me how to apply "trust" and "relationship" to understand what "do the right thing" means in all situations. At #empoweredwealth , this sort of dilemma might be resolved by developing a set of priorities and eventually a principle that might be stated like "we will strive to win in every situation but not if it involves cheating or lying or breaking the rules." Principles are significantly more difficult to develop and define but they can help to demystify complex situations where values clash.
