An Example of Incongruent Leverage: Drug Cartels Have Commandeered the Avocado Business in Mexico
Recently, I was asked to explain why we don't just encourage the use of leverage wherever possible. When applied within the context of the Empowered Wealth Mindset, leverage implies making the world better for those who follow (Living Legacy), giving without the expectation of anything in return (Empowered Gratitude), a focus on True Wealth not just money, and Family Leadership.
The story below is an example of "leverage" applied in an incongruent manner. In the past, I've explained this distinction by asking, "Would Michael Corleone from the "The Godfather" movies be an example of a typical Empowered Wealth client?" After all, isn't he a successful entrepreneur who loves his family and wants to make a difference in the world?
But in "The Godfather" does Michael Corleone make a positive difference or a selfish one? What about the Mexican drug cartels? Are they applying leverage in a positive way, creating a positive Living Legacy?
